Sharpie Tie Dye: Isabella

On the week Miss Mountain’s class had MCAS, she gave them a mystery surprise box that her class would open after the boring test. On Wednesday afternoon Miss Mountain finally revealed what was in the box and it was tye-dying t-shirts! With sharpies? Wait, how can you tie-dye with sharpies? Well, I am fortunate enough to know the answer. You see, you have to obviously get a white shirt and put plastic cups in the middle of your shirt and you put rubber bands on top of the shirt. After that, you start to draw shapes on each cup of your choice. After you draw your shapes on the top of the cups, you put rubbing alcohol on your colorful design and drawings, not water. The alcohol will make the sharpie slowly dissolve but it will also spread it out. After some drying, your creative tie-dye experiment is done! This year, we learned about matter. Miss Mountain’s mystery surprise was not only fun, but it was also creative, thoughtful, and the best thing the class had ever done in science (in my opinion, of course).
